Independent Directors Council Elects Cynthia R. Plouché as Chair
Five Independent Directors Join IDC’s Governing Council
Washington, DC; October 11, 2022 – The Governing Council of the Independent Directors Council (IDC) has elected Cynthia R. Plouché as Chair of its Governing Council for the 2022-2023 fiscal year. Plouché is an Independent Director on the boards of the Northern Trust mutual funds and MassMutual funds.
Kathleen T. Barr, who just completed her second year as IDC chair and is an Independent Director of William Blair Funds and Professionally Managed Portfolios, will now serve as Chair Emeritus.
“I am honored to be elected as chair of IDC’s Governing Council,” said Plouché. “I look forward to building upon the foundation that Kathie, the Governing Council, and IDC's staff have laid. Together, we'll continue to work for the independent director community, identifying opportunities to support shareholder interests and taking on the challenges ahead.”
Barr said, “As IDC provides its invaluable services to fund directors, Cynthia’s proven leadership and experience will be a tremendous asset. I look forward to collaborating with her as we work to advance IDC’s priorities.”
IDC Managing Director Thomas Kim added, “I am deeply grateful to Kathie for her exemplary leadership during the past two years. Looking ahead, I am thrilled to see Cynthia take the helm as chair. Her extensive experience will guide IDC as we serve the independent director community. I also welcome five new members to the Governing Council, each a proven independent director demonstrating excellence in fund governance for the benefit of shareholders.”
The Governing Council elected the following five independent directors to serve on the Council:
- John V. Boyer, Voya Funds
- Peter D. Jones, MFS Funds
- Mary E. Martinez, J.P. Morgan Funds
- Margaret (“Peg”) McLaughlin, Manning & Napier Funds and SSGA Funds
- Gregory G. Weaver, Goldman Sachs Funds
