Stephanie Ortbals-Tibbs, ICI Director, Media Relations: Welcome to Focus on Funds, the Investment Company Institute’s weekly roundup of industry news, ICI activities, and research findings.
It’s an exciting time in the capital markets. There is so much going on the regulatory front in the U.S., in Asia, and in Europe, and ICI Global is keeping up with it all by convening its fourth annual trading and markets conference in London in December. I got a preview of what’s on the agenda.
So David, it’s actually kind of an exciting time to hold a trading and markets conference looking at global issues right now.
David Blass, ICI General Counsel: Absolutely. We’re really excited about the conference; we have a robust agenda, no shortage of issues to talk about both in terms of market structure in Europe, Asia, and in the U.S. We’re going to be talking about fixed-income market structure, the Capital Markets Union in Europe, a host of issues for best execution, dealing commissions, so it’ll be a great conference—a lot of content there for sure.
Ortbals-Tibbs: So for those on the buyside at our large providers, whether they’re in the U.S., in Asia, in Europe, this is going to be full of useful information for them.
Blass: Well, we’re in a global environment in the fund industry, and this is a global conference so I think it’ll be of interest to traders, compliance professionals, others in our industry in Europe, in Asia, and in the U.S. because a lot of what’s going on in Europe crosses over into the U.S. and vice versa.
Ortbals-Tibbs: That’s this week in funds. See you next week.
